Is the Reservatrol Free Trial A Scam?

Saturday Aug 1, 2009

I received an email from someone this week who ordered a “Resveratrol Free Trial” from another website, only to discover they’ve been enrolled in an auto-ship program and couldn’t figure out how to cancel it. In the future, I’ll be reviewing different Reservatrol supplements, along with some of the different free trial offers out there. For now, I thought this would be a great time to explain how most free trial offers work, and how you can take advantage of them, without being taken advantage of yourself!

First, here’s their original inquiry:

I ordered a free sample of this product and paid shipping in advance to receive it well over a month ago and have yet to hear one word back from the company. I have not received the product yet and am starting to feel that we have been taken advantage of here. Please check your records and see what has happened. If we don’t hear anything over the next
couple of days we will contact Barbara Walters and ask about the legitamacy of this website.

As it turns out, this person had ordered from another website. Also I want to clarify again that Barbara Walters does not endorse any specific reservatrol product. Here’s my response, shortened and condensed for clairty:

The ads on our site point to a third party which does the fulfillment and processing of the order… I am simply an affiliate that directs traffic to the actual offer page. You may have also clicked on one of the Google ads on my site, which may have taken you to a different site entirely. (and I have no way of knowing which one).

Resveratrol is a all-natural nutritional supplement and is being manufactured by many different companies. You can even buy it at your local GNC.

I am an affiliate for Market Health, which has been around since 1998. FYI, almost every FREE TRIAL offer on the internet today uses what is called a “rebill offer”. You get a free trial and play only shipping charges. However, you’re also enrolling in a monthly program (the sites will say this on the page if you read the entire page).

Unless you cancel after your first shipment, you’ll receive a new shipment every month automatically at the regular price. The Resveratrol Free Offer that I link to is very fair.  Customers can cancel easily with a link at the bottom of the page reading ‘Cancel Free Trial’.  Customer service is available during regular business hours and responsive.  You can see the product that we promote here:

I do believe in the product, and if I didn’t I wouldn’t be writing about it on my site twice a week. If you’ll read through the content on my site, you’ll see that I clearly spell out the “potential benefits” of the product, without making any unwarranted claims.

You see, as any libertarian will tell you, TANSTAAFL. “There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch”. You can sign up for freebies all day long, but you’ll eventually figure out that “free stuff” is another way for companies to either:

1.) Get some Cheap Advertising and then make money down the road

OR

2.) Make money off of the “free offer” by charging enough for shipping/handling to earn a profit.

With most “free” offers on the web today, including most Reservitol Free Trials, you’re going to encounter a rebill offer. You need to read the fine print on any offer you fill out online, including the offers for Reservatol Supplements.  I believe that rebill offers are very fair, as they allow you to try the product for a minimal cost, and then continue to receive the product if you enjoy it. If not, the offers we present here at Reservatrol.com can be easily canceled at anytime.

In the near future, we’ll also add some straight “buy and try” offers which you can weigh against the Free Reservatol offer.
